The Tour:
The private drive takes you up to the car park and the 3 car garage (12). The
gateway to the rear patio, pool, and barbecue area (10) is adjacent to the
garage. As you enter the Main entrance you are welcomed into a large foyer(13)
which opens out onto the courtyard (9) or you may choose to enter the drawing
room (8), the formal dining area (7) or the hallway which opens onto the large
kitchen (1). The kitchen lends itself to entertaining, continental cooking, or a
catered affair. There is a large cooking island with bar seating along the back
side. The informal dining area (2) joins the kitchen in the large room with
beamed ceilings, fireplace, and entertainment center (you could cook along with
Emeril or Julia). One wall of windows and French doors opens to the courtyard
bringing the garden into the room. The opposite open end opens to the Sun Room
(3). The Sun Room is cozy and light, perfect place to curl up with a book or
share a glass of wine with a friend. The doors open to the back garden, barbecue
entertainment area, and pool (10). Choose to step out and dine under the stars,
barbecue by the pool, or swim. The private pool area lends itself to sun bathing
as you like it. Take a dip, do laps, or just relax on a nearby chaise.
Had you gone through the Foyer to the Front Court Yard (9) you would find a
perfect place to sit and enjoy the company, enjoy the views, or perhaps have a
glass of wine, with cheese and fruit. You may party here with friends or choose
the peace and quiet, listen to the fountain and if you are really quiet, you may
hear an assortment of birds. You may observe the horses grazing or perhaps catch
sight of a soaring red tailed hawk or a great horned owl out hunting. At dusk
you may spot a coyote or perhaps a badger or raccoon in the fields. Overlooking
the Court Yard is the private Tower Retreat (11) that has been dedicated in
memory of Sue Brook, the inspiration for the construction of this home.
The Drawing Room (8) is back through the French doors, overhead are high beam
ceilings, directly in front of you is a large open hearth fireplace. The far end
of the drawing room is a large window with a view that won't quit. Gardens,
trees, flowers, green fields, and contented horses are your visual enjoyment. A
large entertainment center is hidden away in the armoire if peace and quiet are
not what you choose.
Now if you go back through the Foyer you will notice quaint powder room and coat
room. Just past the main entrance, tucked away behind one of those special
doors, is the wine closet. Continue on and enter the elegant Formal Dining area
(7) and feel transported back to 19th century England. The large table will seat
8-10 guests. There is a fireplace at the far end of the room. Your magical
experience can be enhanced with adjustable lighting and piped in music. A pass
through from the kitchen and an entry from the Butlers Pantry add convenience
for those special occasions when you may require a chef and serving staff. The
Butlers Pantry also serves as a Mud Room (14). There is an expanse of counter
space, many cabinets, extra prep sink, and refrigerator. The pantry opens to the
kitchen, has an entry to dining area, opens to the backyard area for barbecue
convenience and has an exit to the garage and Car Yard.
When it comes to retire you have four, potentially five, choices - the master
bedroom suite, the gold room, the Mexican room or the blue room not to mention
the sunroom as a potential fifth bedroom.
The Master Suite (6) surrounds you with gardens and views. A fireplace and
entertainment center let you set the mood. Sit on the window seat, relax and
enjoy the sunrise. Open the French doors and be almost poolside. The bath
bathing areas of the Master Suite are quite romantic. One corner area is filled
with a Jacuzzi tub that two could enjoy, with a full view of gardens and the
horse ranch and very private. The other bathing area is your own private rain
fall with three shower spigots in a large shower. A private loo and even a bidet
are tucked away in another corner.
If you opt for the Gold Bedroom (5), just step through the French doors and you
are poolside. You have a full private bath, sitting area and an entertainment
center. When you're ready to retire, relax in a four poster canopy bed.
The Mexican bedroom has a queen
size bed and genuine imported Mexican furniture. It is one of the airiest and
brightest rooms in the house and faces easterly. Next door is the shared guest
bathroom.
The Blue Bedroom (4) is equipped with two single beds, a cozy sitting area and
an easterly view of the courtyard and gardens. The shared guest bath is just
down the hall. Nearby access to the kitchen, sunroom, courtyard, and laundry
center.
The sunroom
provides a potential fifth bedroom with a sizeable sofabed and its own privacy.
It gives on to the barbecue entertainment area.
